Power Cages
When you are interested in powerful training with free weights, then you want a power cage. A power cage is bodybuilding equipment made up of more than a single machine. Each area of the cage is referred to as a station, each featuring pulleys and bars for performing strength exercises safely. The power cage is a new idea in bodybuilding and was introduced to provide a safer environment for lifting weights. People who use a home gym generally don’t have someone to guard them as they lift weights. The pulleys that are included with most power cages allow you to lift as much weight as you want to attempt without the worry that you are going to injure yourself. If a certain amount of weight proves to be too much for you to lift, you simply release the pulley. Without a power cage, such a scenario could result in a serious injury or a fatal accident. When you shop for a power cage, look for the equipment that provides safety features and the most workout stations.
The Xodus FMSG 3004-8, for example, includes a station for performing lat exercises as well as one for abdominal work. This equipment also features a handy weight rack that makes increasing the amount of weight you lift a snap. The FMSG includes a weight bench, but you can easily remove the bench when you are performing exercises requiring you to stand.
Another mulit-use power cage is the Cap Barbell FM-3008. This equipment offers features similar to those of the Xodus FMSG, but about $80 cheaper. You can use just about any style of weights with this power cage. In addition, you are not confined to performing exercises using the bench. You can remove the bench and work your upper and lower body while standing.
